Resort Hotels

The largest resort hotels usually have their own beach or beach club and pool(s). Most offer the usual luxury resort facilities.

Kinam
Telephone number: 57-6525

Forty one rooms, air conditioned. Swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Excellently located near some of Petionville's best restaurants and shopping. Beautiful, gingerbread style building.

Montana
Rue Cardozo,
Petionville
Telephone: 57-1920
Fax: 23-6217; 57-6137

Eighty Five rooms, air conditioned. Swimming pool, two restaurants, bar, souvenir/newspaper shop. Spectacular view of Port-au-Prince and the bay. The Montana Hotel has an AT&T USA-direct line, which facilitates international calls. This hotel was a favorite watering hole for journalists and T.V. crews during the embargo and intervention. Uninteresting architecture, but nice patio areas for conversations and drinks outside. This hotel is a favorite for consultants and business travellers as well as tourists. Conference room facilities available.

El Rancho
Impasse des Hotels
Pétionville
Telephone: 57-2082
Fax: 57-4134

Ninety Five rooms, air conditioned. Swimming pool, casino, discotheque, restaurant, bar. Opulent Spanish architectural style. This hotel is a favorite for consultants and business travellers as well as tourists. Conference room facilities available.

Holiday Inn
No.55 Rue Capois
Telephone 22-0766
Fax 23-7232

Eighty rooms, air conditioned. Swimming pool, restaurant, bar. The Holiday Inn is built around a lush tropical garden of palm trees and ferns, in which the swimming pool is located. This makes it easy to forget that the hustle and bustle of Port-au-Prince is right outside. This is clearly the best downtown hotel. However, area nightlife is a far cry from that in Petionville. If you need to have alot of meetings at your hotel with people working in the city, this is the perfect location because they don't have to go far to reach you. This is important these days because the automobile traffic has become a real challenge!

Kyona Beach
Telephone: 22-6788

Located near Luly, the area's largest fishing village, about 45 minutes (when there is no traffic) from Port-au-Prince. Kyona is a sandy beach, and offers a restaurant and bar. Twenty four rooms are available, with ceiling fans. Prices range from US35 to US$65. Lots of space for children. Boat rides offered by area fishermen to Les Arcadins, a natural marine preserve consisting of three small unhabited islands surrounded by coral reefs, about an hour's sail from the coast. If you go to Les Arcadins, remember that taking coral and shells is illegal!

Moulin Sur Mer
Telephone: 23-5700;
Fax: 57-2023

Moulin Sur Mer is a sandy beach, and has a restaurant and bar. Fifty rooms, mostly air conditioned. Gardens developed around an colonial-era sugar mill. Lots of space for children, tennis courts, fresh water pool.

Club Med
Telephone: 23-0375;
Fax: 23-0375

Located about one and a half hour from Port-au-Prince, beyond the town of Montrouis. Sandy Beach. 350 Rooms.

Kaliko
Telephone: 22-8040;
Fax: 25-9246

Located about 50 minutes (non-rush hour) from Port-au-Prince, Kaliko is partly sandy and partly pebbly. 40 air conditioned rooms are available. Tennis courts, swimming pool, restaurant, bar.

La Jacmelienne
Telephone 88-34-51

Forty rooms, some air conditioned. Restaurant and bar. La Jacmelienne is located on a picturesque beach, but we do not recommend swimming there this year: the city and hotel still need to make more effort keeping the water clean and healthy for swimmers. The Jacmelienne's beach is great for walks, though. We will review the situation again in a few months. La Jacmelienne is within walking distance of the center of Jacmel.
