Credit Cards
Credit cards are accepted by virtually every shop and restaurant, and most hotels. Visitors should check in advance to ascertain which properties accept credit cards.
Currency
The Dominican Peso is the official monetary unit and fluctuates in value relative to the USA dollar. You may exchange currency at the airports, the exchange booths (Banco de Reservas) and commercial banks. The current exchange rate is approximately RD$13.50 to US$1.00. Travellers cheques are widely accepted.
