Documents You'll Need

You probably won't need any special documents other than what is carried in your wallet. If you plan to drive in Barbados you need only to produce your valid National or International License and for $10.00 Bds. you can obtain a temporary registration from Hastings, Worthing, Hometown Police Station and at the Licensing Authority. Your car rental company can also make the arrangements for you.

Customs Made Easy

Each visitor may bring into barbados - DUTY FREE:

  • Personal effects
  • Sports equipment
  • Cameras
  • 26 oz. (735 grammes) of spirits
  • 50 cigars
  • 1 carton of cigarettes
  • ½ lb. (0.23 kilos) of tobacco
  • Strict rules apply to the importation of pets because Barbados is free of rabies and wants to stay that way. Permits must be obtaioned from the ministry of Agriculture.

What to Wear

When considering clothing in a climate that is warm and sunny that is warm and sunny throughout the year, easily washable, lightweight sports and casual wear are in order. Dinner jacket and light weight cotton evening dress are fashionable, although a jacket and tie or cocktail dress are acceptable. Bajans prefer colourful light garments that are quite casual and relaxing. Don't forget your bathing suits. "Beaching it" should also include sunglasses, suntan lotion and beach footwear.
